American artist Janet Echelman spent her Fulbright scholarship in India,
where nets of local fishermen inspired her to create unique sculptures
and installations. Almost intangible material allows her to design
monumental works changing by wind, water or light. In her work, she
combines traditional craftsmanship with the latest technology and works
with experts from various fields of aerospace engineering through
landscape architecture to lighting design.
Her work was very much appreciated the professional community, she was
awarded a prestigious Guggenheim scholarship, and other important awards
in recent years, for example, from the Smithsonian Institution, the
Community of Architects in Boston and Aspen Institute.

Americká umělkyně Janet Echelman pobývala díky Fulbrightovu stipendiu v Indii, kde ji sítě místních rybářů inspirovaly k tvorbě unikátních soch a instalací. Téměř nehmotný materiál jí dovoluje vytvářet monumentální díla proměňující se v působením větru, vody nebo světla. Při své práci kombinuje tradiční řemeslo s nejnovějšími technologiemi a spolupracuje s odborníky z rozličných oborů od leteckého inženýrství přes krajinnou architekturu až po světelný design. Za svou tvorbu byla mnohokrát oceněna odbornou veřejností, získala prestižní Guggenheimovo stipendium, ale i řadu dalších významných cen a uznání, v posledních letech například od Smithsonova institutu, Společenství architektů v Bostonu nebo Aspen Institute. Na festivalu SIGNAL v Praze představí své dílo "1.26" a vystoupí na Signal Future Forum (SIFF)
