On Friday, October 4, 2024, the French and Francophone Library opened in the Foreign Libraries of the Moravian Regional Library with the participation of the French and Belgian ambassadors, representatives of Switzerland, Canada, Rwanda and Luxembourg.
The French Institute in Prague is an important partner in the composition and distribution of units to the collection. The French Institute in Prague and the French Alliance in Brno will also participate in the organization of educational and cultural events. Book donations for the opening of the library also came from Argentina, Albania, Morocco, Tunisia, Romania and Kosovo, and many other countries.
To make the library accessible to the widest possible audience, we agreed with our partners on contemporary fiction, simplified reading, literature for children and young adults, comics and graphic novels, history and social sciences, as well as textbooks.
Since the books only arrived at the library on opening day (October 4, 2024), they now await processing, cataloging, and description. After that, the collection will be regularly replenished with new books, and we hope that it will find its audience.
