BOOKPORT: specialist e-books in Czech

Remote access

From the beginning of 2023, the MZK will make the BOOKPORT database available. It is a purely Czech full-text database of electronic books from the publishing houses GRADA, Karolinum, Wolters Kluwer, GALÉN, JOTA, MuniPress, Jan Melvil, Alferia, 65. Pole, Epocha, Portál, Práh, Volvox Globator, Synergie, Vyšehrad and others. Currently (as of 29 April 2024) there are 5,296 titles available in the database. E-books are available in PDF and ePub formats.

Bookport

Moravian Library license allows access to the full text of books from all 4 available collections:

  • Business
  • Medicine
  • Pedagogy, psychology and social sciences
  • Technology

E-books can be read online and offline via the  aplikace BOOKPORT, which can be authorised on up to three devices. In offline mode, a maximum of 6 titles can be borrowed at any one time.

How to log in

It is always necessary to log in to the BOOKPORT database, even if you are in the Moravian Library. You can log in in two ways:

  1. via the "Enter the database" link above, which will direct you to the eduID.cz login, where you will select the "Moravian Library" option and use your login data to our online catalogue (reader account);
  2. directly via the BOOKPORT database website, select "Log in" in the upper right corner, then "Log in via eduID.cz" and then follow the same procedure as in the previous option, i.e. select "Moravian Library" and log in using your reader account details. To view the titles that are part of the licensed collections, after logging in, click on the "Book catalogue" link and then select "Subscription books" in the white bar for the "View" option.

When you log in for the very first time, you will receive an e-mail directly from BOOKPORT confirming your registration, followed by a message stating that your user account has been added to the group, but you do not need to pay special attention to this.

What functionalities are available to you? In addition to unlimited reading, for example:

  • Automatic reading sync - pick up reading on your tablet exactly where you left off on your computer.
  • Advanced search - search for a keyword or full sentence, even if you don't know what book to look for.
  • Book collections - create your own book collections and sort books to suit your needs.
  • Change the view - change the font size, text alignment or use night mode.
  • Highlight text - mark interesting or important passages.
  • Insert notes - jot down your own observations or thoughts.
  • Share notes - share your insights with others.
