The Moravian Library in Brno runs the Digital Library MZK which offers digitized documents via system Kramerius and contains works in the public domain as well as copyright works of many genres.

Design of the Digital Library MZK brings simple and comprehensive way of working with digital documents. The great bonus of this web interface is access to more digital libraries in the Czech Republic! We will be happy if you write us your comments here: digitalniknihovna@mzk.cz.

Mobile App Kramerius
Another way of viewing our digital documents is through the Kramerius mobile app. We have developed applications for Android and iOS. You can download the application for free here:
What does the Digital Library contain?
- newspapers and magazines (for example historically important Lidové noviny, Národní listy, Rovnost)
- manuscripts and old prints
- maps
- archives
- sheet music
- books - newer Czech and foreign literature
- CD contents from the MZK fund (in PDF format), you can find them among the books
- sound recordings - recordings from gramophone records
- Currently (August 1, 2018) you will find 50 175 419 scanned pages in the Digital Library MZK. This is 199,689 various documents in total.
Collections
Thematic collections contain selected documents that can be also found in the "complete" Digital Library. The collection behaves like a filter and can be removed in the left column "Applied Filters". You can enter the list of individual collections through the option "Collections" in menu on the main page.
The Digital Library MZK consists of 16 collections:
- ANL - scientific magazines and almanacs, regional magazines and newspapers published in the Czech Republic.
- Sheet Music - sheet music published before 1875
- Komeniana - this collection contains digitized books of John Amos Comenius published until 1800.
- Masaryk Museum - digitized documents from the book collections of the Masaryk Museum specifically from its branches: the Vlastivedne Museum in Kyjov and the Municipal Museum in Veseli nad Moravou.
- Moll's map collection - This collection contains unique maps and graphics of passionate collector Bernard Paul Moll. More information about the collection can be found here.
- Brno Regional Museum - digitized documents from the book collections of the Brno Regional Museum.
- Eyes of Brno - this collection is formed within the project Eyes of Brno.
- Compulsory Reading - publicly available digitized books, which can be part of a compulsory reading at secondary schools.
- First World War - digitized books concerning the First World War.
- Rajhrad - rare digitized manuscripts and old prints from the Benedictine monastery in Rajhrad.
- Regionální muzeum v Mikulově - digitized documents from the book collections of the Regional Museum in Mikulov.
- Year of Reconciliation - This collection was created in 2015 as a part of the Year of Reconciliation project to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Brno´s liberation from Nazism.
- Crafts and Skills - older publicly available books which discuss various household and craft activities
- Sports and Games - digitized publications from the field of sports and games.
- Viticulture - interesting older books about wine-growing.
- Masonic Literature
Access to the Digital Library MZK
Access to the Digital Library is limited by copyright. The basic division of documents is:
- public - these are works in the public domain, they are not subject to author’s or publisher’s rights and they are freely accessible
- private - these are copyright works, which are protected by author’s or publisher’s rights (the duration of a copyright spans the author's life plus 70 years and 50 years from publishing, for newspapers and magazines 70 years from publishing); you can browse them and print them only on MZK computers via the browser with copyright content (beware, you cannot download or copy from this browser).
