U.S. Embassy spokesperson Daniel Ernst will discuss how governments work with media.

Daniel Ernst is the spokesperson at the U.S. Embassy in Prague and head of the press and information office, a position he has held since November 2013. Prior to joining the embassy, Daniel was the State Department's Arabic language spokesperson and Director of the Middle East Regional Media Hub in Dubai, UAE, where he covered issues including the Arab Spring, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, and the Middle East Peace process. Daniel joined the State Department on September 10, 2001 and has served at U.S. diplomatic missions in Amman, Jordan; Tunis, Tunisia; Tikrit, Iraq; Casablanca, Morocco; and in Washington, D.C., where he worked in the State Department's Office of Iraq Political Affairs. Daniel is the recipient of multiple awards, including superior and meritorious honor, and a special service citation for his work with the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq in 2004. He holds both Bachelor and Master degrees from Carnegie Mellon University and speaks Arabic, French, and Czech. Daniel is currently pursuing a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the U.S. Army War College and is a classically-trained musician.
