Why are they called the Great Smoky Mountains?  It's not because of the air pollution that plagued the park for decades.  Dr. Jeffrey Herrick will tell the story of the pollution problems and the recent clearing of the air in America's most visited National Park.

Dr. Herrick is an ecologist specializing in air pollution protection at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.  He has spent his career studying the interactions between the atmosphere and the plants.
